Why Does SCREEN MACHINE use USA-made Grade 80 steel for key parts of our machines? Despite Appearances … NOT ALL STEEL IS THE SAME!
- Steel grade selection is extremely important in the manufacturing of portable crushing and screening equipment. It can greatly extend the usable life span of the equipment for several years. Individual componentry can always be replaced as long as you have a solid and sturdy frame to work from.
- Grade 80 steel significantly reduces the wear commonly found on hoppers, chutes, screen boxes, and other fabricated parts where abrasion exists.
- Grade 80 steel provides our machines with more than twice the yield strength of our competitors while still retaining manageable weights.
The measured dimensions below of ball depth penetration at equal force (resulting in a crater) reveals the relative “Yield Strength” for each grade of steel used in crushing and screening equipment. As mentioned above, Screen Machine makes key parts of our machines from USA-made Grade 80 steel, with the balance manufactured with USA-made Mild Steel. No other crushing and screening manufacturer uses Grade 80 steel, their machines are completely made of Mild Steel. Something to consider when thinking about overall durability of your equipment.
